Man Found Dead in Vehicle After Shooting in Birmingham’s Wylam Neighborhood

Authorities in Birmingham are investigating a deadly incident that occurred Saturday evening in the city’s Wylam neighborhood, leaving one man dead. According to the Birmingham Police Department (BPD), officers were dispatched around 7:09 p.m. to the 900 block of Erie Street after receiving reports of possible gunfire in the area.

When officers from the West Precinct arrived, they found an adult man inside a vehicle who was unresponsive and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel from Birmingham Fire and Rescue quickly responded, but despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as 61-year-old Vincento Davis, a resident of Birmingham.

Police said preliminary findings indicate that neighbors reported hearing gunfire shortly before discovering Davis inside his vehicle. Concerned residents immediately called 911, prompting a swift response from law enforcement and emergency crews. At this time, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active as detectives work to determine what led to the shooting.

The BPD Homicide Unit is leading the investigation and is currently reviewing nearby surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses, and collecting evidence from the scene.
