FOREST CITY, N.C. — Authorities in Rutherford County are investigating the tragic death of 25-year-old Tyler D. Weaver, who was found dead following a reported home invasion Friday morning, October 24, 2025. The incident has shaken the quiet Forest City neighborhood as law enforcement works to determine what led to the fatal encounter.

According to the Forest City Police Department, officers were dispatched to 114 Harris Lee Drive around 9:50 a.m. after receiving reports of a possible break-in. When officers arrived, they discovered Weaver lying unresponsive inside the home. Emergency responders from Rutherford County EMS pronounced him deceased at the scene, confirming that he had suffered fatal injuries before help could arrive.
Following the discovery, police and deputies immediately launched an extensive search of the wooded area surrounding the residence. Investigators also conducted door-to-door canvassing in the nearby neighborhood, hoping to locate witnesses or surveillance footage that could provide leads. Despite their efforts, authorities believe the suspect or suspects fled the area before officers arrived.
The Forest City Police Department, with support from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), continues to process the crime scene for forensic evidence and follow up on multiple leads. Detectives have not released details regarding possible motives or whether Weaver knew his attacker. However, police have emphasized that there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public at this time.
In a joint statement, the Forest City Police Department and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office said they are committed to bringing those responsible to justice. “This is a heartbreaking case for the entire community,” one official said. “We are doing everything possible to identify and locate the individual or individuals involved.” Residents are being urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or information that could assist in the investigation.
