Detroit Man Charged After Stabbing Girlfriend During Car Argument

DETROIT, Mich. – A 39-year-old man has been charged after police say he stabbed his girlfriend multiple times during a violent argument inside his car late Saturday night. The incident occurred on September 20 and has left the woman hospitalized with serious but non-fatal injuries.

Authorities identified the suspect as Terrance Labrendo Wilson. According to police, the altercation began while Wilson was on a date with his 44-year-old girlfriend when his ex-wife repeatedly called his phone. The girlfriend allegedly attempted to decline the incoming calls on the CarPlay screen, sparking a heated dispute between the couple.

The confrontation quickly escalated. Investigators say Wilson told police the woman bit him and threw a bottle at him, causing his face to bleed. In response, Wilson pulled out a pocketknife and stabbed her several times in the arms and chest. Witnesses reported a struggle inside the vehicle before the victim was able to escape and seek help.

Emergency responders rushed the woman to a nearby hospital, where doctors treated her for multiple stab wounds. Officials confirmed that while her injuries are serious, she is expected to survive. Police arrested Wilson shortly after the incident and took him into custody without further confrontation.

On Monday, Wilson was arraigned in Detroit’s 36th District Court. A judge set his bond at $20,000 cash or surety. He now faces three charges: assault with intent to do great bodily harm, felonious assault, and domestic violence. If convicted, Wilson could face several years in prison. Court records show that he is due back in court later this month for a probable cause conference.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about domestic violence and the risks of disputes escalating into life-threatening situations. Detroit police urged community members to seek help if they feel unsafe in relationships, emphasizing that early intervention can prevent tragedies. For now, Wilson remains in custody as the legal process moves forward, while his girlfriend continues her recovery.
