Our hearts are broken as we share the passing of our dear friend, Shelby Balsley, who lost her long and courageous battle with cancer. Shelby faced every challenge with unwavering faith, quiet strength, and a grace that inspired everyone around her. Even during her hardest moments, she carried herself with dignity and kindness, offering hope and light to others. Her journey was one of incredible courage — a testament to her love for her family, her friends, and her students.

Shelby devoted much of her life to teaching, a role that came as naturally to her as breathing. She had an extraordinary gift for making others feel seen, valued, and supported. Her classroom was a safe haven where students knew they were cared for and believed in. She had the rare ability to make learning feel joyful and life feel full of possibility. To her colleagues and students alike, Shelby wasn’t just a teacher — she was a mentor, a cheerleader, and a friend.
Those who knew Shelby will remember her boundless generosity and her gentle spirit. She was the kind of person who showed up quietly but meaningfully — with a warm smile, a comforting word, or a helping hand when it was needed most. Shelby gave so much of herself to others, never asking for anything in return. Her laughter filled every room, her compassion touched countless lives, and her legacy of kindness will endure far beyond her years.
This fundraiser has been created to help cover funeral expenses and to support her beloved children, Summer and Dylan, as they face the difficult road ahead. Shelby’s greatest joy in life was being their mother. She loved them fiercely and unconditionally, guiding them with patience, humor, and endless affection. Her children were her heart, her purpose, and her proudest accomplishment.
As our community grieves this immense loss, we are also called to celebrate Shelby’s remarkable life. Her strength, kindness, and love continue to ripple outward through those she touched. By contributing to this fundraiser, we can honor her memory and ensure that her children are cared for in the same spirit of love that she gave so freely.
Shelby’s light will never fade. It will live on in the hearts of her family, her friends, and every student she inspired. Her story is one of love, courage, and faith — and though she is gone, her impact will be felt forever.
