LEXINGTON TOWNSHIP — A 31-year-old woman from Alliance has died following a devastating rollover crash that occurred Monday evening in Lexington Township. Authorities identified the victim as Shantelle Watson, who tragically lost her life after being ejected from her vehicle during the violent collision.

According to the Stark County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the crash around 6 p.m. in the 14400 block of Iowa Avenue NE (Route 183). Upon arrival, they discovered a heavily damaged 2007 Buick LaCrosse that had come to rest off the side of the road. Investigators reported that Watson had been thrown from the vehicle, an indication of the severe impact caused by the crash.
Preliminary findings suggest that Watson’s car was traveling northbound on Iowa Avenue NE when it drifted off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle reportedly rolled over multiple times before coming to a stop. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but authorities are examining whether speed, driver distraction, or a potential mechanical issue may have contributed to the incident.
Emergency personnel at the scene quickly provided aid before transporting Watson to Aultman Hospital. Despite the efforts of medical staff, officials confirmed that she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. The impact of the accident was so severe that investigators believe she may not have been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, though that detail has not been officially confirmed.
The Stark County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Investigations Unit continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the tragic event. Deputies are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or noticed anything unusual in the area around that time to come forward. Those with information are encouraged to contact the Stark County Sheriff’s Office at 330-430-3800, or reach out anonymously through the county’s crime tip line at 330-451-3937.
The loss of Shantelle Watson has left the Alliance community heartbroken, as friends and loved ones remember her as a vibrant young woman whose life ended far too soon. As the investigation continues, authorities are reminding all motorists to remain alert, wear seatbelts, and exercise caution on the roadways to help prevent future tragedies.
