BRAMPTON, ON — Police are actively searching for 38-year-old Anthony Deschepper, who has been identified as the suspect in a fatal shooting and related abduction that unfolded Tuesday afternoon in Brampton. Authorities have issued urgent warnings to residents in Fort Erie to shelter in place as the manhunt intensifies.

According to Peel Regional Police, the incident began shortly before 2 p.m. when officers were called to a strip mall parking lot near Queen Street East and Airport Road for reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified as Savannah Kulla. Investigators believe the incident stemmed from an intimate partner dispute involving Deschepper.
Following the shooting, an AMBER Alert was issued in connection with the abduction of a child believed to be linked to the suspect. Fortunately, police later confirmed the child had been safely located and reunited with family members. However, Deschepper remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous.
Authorities described Deschepper as a white male, standing 5’9” tall and weighing approximately 175 pounds, with brown hair and a clean-shaven face. He was last seen wearing a blue hoodie, blue jeans, and carrying a black crossbody bag. Police say he may be driving a black 2024 Nissan Kicks with Quebec license plate FRV4520.
Law enforcement agencies across Ontario are coordinating in the ongoing search effort. Residents in the Fort Erie area, particularly near Prospect Point and Ridgeway Road, are being urged to remain indoors, lock their doors and windows, and report any sightings of Deschepper or his vehicle by calling 911 immediately. Officials stress that the suspect should not be approached under any circumstances.
This remains a rapidly developing investigation. As police continue to track Deschepper’s movements, the community of Brampton mourns the loss of Savannah Kulla, whose death has sparked an outpouring of grief and calls for stronger protections against domestic violence.
