Douglasville Man Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting After Fatally Shooting Wife

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — A tragic domestic dispute in Douglasville ended in two deaths Saturday night, prompting a dual investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) into both a homicide and an officer-involved shooting.

According to the Douglasville Police Department, officers responded around 9:27 p.m. on October 4 to a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance at a residence on Littlebrook Way. When they arrived, they discovered a woman lying unresponsive in the yard and a man standing nearby holding a handgun.

Authorities identified the man as 51-year-old Volanta Lejuan Walker and the woman as his wife, 56-year-old Sabrina Walker, both residents of Douglasville. Officers ordered Volanta Walker to drop his weapon multiple times, but investigators say he refused and pointed the gun toward police. One officer then discharged his weapon, striking Walker. Officers immediately rendered aid before paramedics transported him to a local hospital, where he later died.

Police confirmed that Sabrina Walker was pronounced dead at the scene. Early findings indicate that the couple had been involved in an argument inside their home, which escalated when Volanta Walker chased his wife outside and shot her. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation, but authorities described the incident as a domestic-related homicide.

The GBI Crime Lab will perform an autopsy on Sabrina Walker to determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, GBI agents are conducting two separate investigations — one into the homicide and another into the actions of the responding officer. Both cases will be submitted to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office for review once completed.

Neighbors in the quiet suburban community expressed shock and sadness over the deadly incident. Many said the couple had lived in the neighborhood for several years and were known to keep to themselves. Police officials and city leaders have extended condolences to the families involved, calling the tragedy a reminder of the dangers surrounding domestic violence.

Authorities urged anyone experiencing relationship-related conflict to seek help before it escalates. Local and national resources, including the National Domestic Violence Hotline (1-800-799-7233), are available 24/7 to provide confidential assistance.
