65-Year-Old Gates Woman Killed in Ogden Crash Near Spencerport High School

OGDEN, N.Y. — A tragic traffic accident near Spencerport High School on Monday afternoon claimed the life of 65-year-old Rosetta Mundt of Gates. According to the Ogden Police Department, the fatal crash occurred around 5:15 p.m. on Spencerport Road when two vehicles collided during a left-turn maneuver at Sias Lane.

Investigators said an eastbound vehicle driven by a 17-year-old Spencerport resident attempted to turn left onto Sias Lane and struck a westbound car operated by 25-year-old Noah Mundt of Brighton. His mother, Rosetta Mundt, was a passenger in the vehicle. The collision caused extensive damage to both vehicles, prompting an immediate response from emergency crews and first responders.

Upon arrival, officers and medical personnel found Rosetta Mundt unresponsive. She was quickly transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead despite life-saving efforts. Her death has left her family and the Spencerport community in mourning, as loved ones describe her as a kind and devoted woman whose sudden loss has deeply affected those who knew her.

Both drivers — Noah Mundt and the 17-year-old — were taken to the hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Police confirmed that neither drugs nor alcohol played a role in the crash. Preliminary findings point to a failure to yield the right of way by the eastbound driver as the primary cause of the collision. Authorities continue to examine the scene and review all evidence, including possible surveillance footage and witness statements.

Traffic safety officials noted that the area near Spencerport High School can experience heavy congestion during afternoon hours, particularly when students are leaving school or attending extracurricular activities. Police are urging motorists to exercise extreme caution at intersections and to ensure they yield appropriately when turning across oncoming lanes.

The Ogden Police Department is continuing its investigation and encourages anyone with additional information to come forward. In the meantime, the community is coming together to support the Mundt family through their loss. The tragic crash serves as a painful reminder of how quickly accidents can occur and the critical importance of attentiveness and care behind the wheel — especially in high-traffic school zones.
