63-Year-Old Nauvoo Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Alabama Highway 5

WALKER COUNTY, Ala. — A 63-year-old man from Nauvoo lost his life Thursday evening following a devastating motorcycle crash in Walker County. Authorities with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) have identified the victim as Roger D. Naramore, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to ALEA Senior Trooper Gregory Corble, the fatal collision occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Alabama Highway 5, about five miles north of Jasper. Investigators say Naramore was operating a Suzuki VZ800 motorcycle when he collided with a Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by 32-year-old Kayla House. The cause of the crash remains under investigation as officials continue to examine all factors that may have contributed to the collision.

Emergency responders from multiple agencies, including local fire and rescue teams, arrived quickly after the crash was reported. Despite their immediate efforts, Naramore succumbed to his injuries before he could be transported to a hospital. The driver of the Trailblazer, Kayla House, was not injured, and no other vehicles were involved in the incident. Authorities worked late into the evening, documenting the crash scene and clearing the roadway for normal traffic flow.

Troopers temporarily closed a portion of Highway 5 while they collected evidence and conducted a preliminary reconstruction of the crash. Investigators are reviewing environmental conditions, such as lighting and visibility, as well as possible mechanical factors. Officials said routine toxicology testing will be conducted for both drivers, which is standard procedure in fatal crash cases. No citations or charges have been filed at this time.

Residents who live near the crash site described Highway 5 as a particularly dangerous stretch of road, especially after dark. Many have voiced concerns about speeding and limited visibility in the area, calling for additional safety measures, such as better lighting or warning signs. Thursday’s tragedy, they said, serves as another grim reminder of the risks faced by motorcyclists traveling on rural highways.

Authorities extended their condolences to the Naramore family, emphasizing that the loss of life in any traffic accident deeply affects the local community. ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, and additional updates will be released once the final report is complete.
