Robert DeCesare killed in Nashua Sky Meadow Country Club wedding shooting

NASHUA, N.H. — A wedding reception at the Sky Meadow Country Club turned into tragedy on September 20, 2025, when gunfire erupted inside the venue, killing one guest and injuring several others. Authorities have now confirmed that 23-year-old Hunter Nadeau has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the deadly attack.

New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella and Nashua Police Chief Kevin Rourke announced Sunday that Nadeau is accused of fatally shooting 59-year-old Robert Steven DeCesare during the celebration. According to investigators, Nadeau entered the reception wearing a mask, raised his middle finger toward the crowd, and shouted, “Free Palestine” and “the children are safe,” before opening fire. DeCesare was struck and later pronounced dead, while two other adults were wounded.

Officials said there is no evidence to suggest Nadeau had a prior relationship with DeCesare. The shooting appeared to be targeted, though the motive has not been confirmed. Witnesses described the terrifying scene as dozens of guests scrambled for safety, with some sustaining injuries while fleeing. Law enforcement agencies from across New Hampshire and Massachusetts rushed to the scene, initially fearing multiple shooters were involved. Investigators later confirmed Nadeau acted alone, supported by video evidence.

Prosecutors have indicated that Nadeau could face additional charges related to the surviving victims. They also confirmed that a vehicle believed to be tied to the suspect was seized as part of the investigation. Authorities are continuing to review witness accounts, surveillance footage, and physical evidence to piece together the timeline of events and uncover the suspect’s potential motive.

Nadeau is scheduled to be arraigned in the Ninth Circuit Court in Nashua on Monday, September 22. Officials reminded the public that the charges remain allegations at this stage, and Nadeau is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The Attorney General’s Office emphasized that further details will be released as the case moves forward but noted the importance of protecting the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

For the family of Robert DeCesare, the tragedy has been devastating. Loved ones described him as a devoted husband and father who was enjoying an evening with his family before the attack cut his life short. As Nashua mourns, community leaders have called for unity and support for those impacted by the senseless act of violence.
