Maryland Attorney General Identifies Man, Officers Involved in Fatal Police Shooting in Dundalk

DUNDALK, Md. — The Maryland Office of the Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division (IID) has released the identities of the man and six officers involved in a police-related shooting in Dundalk that left one resident dead earlier this week.

Authorities confirmed that the deceased individual was 55-year-old Robert Adams, a resident of Dundalk. The six involved officers, all members of the Baltimore County Police Department’s Operations Bureau, have been identified as Police Officer First Class Andrew Meyer, Malik McLaughlin, Austin Kiss, and Nicholas Cook, along with Officer Mason Rice and Officer Luke Eubert. Each officer’s years of service range from one to six.

According to preliminary findings, the incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on October 8 in the 2100 block of Larkhall Road, following multiple 911 calls reporting possible gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, responding officers reportedly observed Adams inside his home, standing at a second-floor window. Authorities say Adams’ actions during the encounter prompted officers to open fire.

A tactical response team was called, resulting in a barricade situation that lasted for several hours. Around two hours later, officers entered the residence and found Adams suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators recovered two firearms from near the same window where Adams was initially seen.

Officials confirmed that no officers or civilians were injured in the incident. In accordance with department policy, all six officers involved have been placed on administrative leave while the investigation proceeds. The IID, which investigates all police-involved deaths in Maryland, is now leading the inquiry to ensure an impartial review of the case.

Investigators are currently examining body-worn camera footage, witness accounts, and forensic evidence to determine the full sequence of events and whether the officers’ use of force complied with department policies. Authorities emphasized their commitment to transparency and accountability, though they noted that the process could take several weeks.

Community members in Dundalk have expressed both concern and hope for clarity as the investigation moves forward. The IID has urged anyone with information or video footage related to the incident to contact investigators at (410) 576-7070 or via email at IID@oag.state.md.us
