NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A devastating crash in southeast Nashville early Sunday morning has left three teenagers dead and two others seriously injured, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD). The deadly collision occurred around 12:45 a.m. on Mt. View Road near Asheford Trace, when a silver Infiniti G37 collided head-on with a Jeep Renegade traveling in the opposite direction.
Police say preliminary findings suggest the Infiniti was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed before veering into the northbound lane, striking the Jeep. The impact was so severe that both vehicles sustained catastrophic damage. Witnesses told investigators the crash sounded like an explosion, and several nearby residents rushed outside to help before emergency crews arrived.
The victims have been identified as 19-year-old Maximos Ibrahim, 17-year-old Raafat Nassif, and 19-year-old David Fakhory. Ibrahim and Nassif were pronounced dead at the scene, while Fakhory was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the Infiniti, 17-year-old Kerlos Toma of Murfreesboro, survived but remains in life-threatening condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The driver of the Jeep Renegade, a 24-year-old man, was also hospitalized at Vanderbilt with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Preliminary evidence gathered from tire marks and debris indicates that excessive speed and loss of control were likely factors in the crash. Investigators also noted that none of the occupants appeared to have been wearing seatbelts, which may have worsened the outcome.
MNPD’s Crash Investigation Unit is continuing to analyze the scene, reviewing witness statements, and collecting potential surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses. Toxicology testing will also be conducted, as is standard in fatal collisions, to determine whether impairment or other factors may have contributed to the tragedy.
The community has been left heartbroken by the loss of three young lives. Friends, classmates, and neighbors have shared tributes online, describing the victims as bright, caring, and full of potential. Authorities are urging drivers—especially young motorists—to slow down, wear seatbelts, and stay alert behind the wheel. As police continue their investigation, they remind the public that “every life lost on our roads is one too many.”
