Joshua Jahn’s brother, Noah Jahn Says shooter was proficient with guns

DALLAS – The brother of alleged Dallas ICE facility gunman Joshua Jahn has spoken publicly for the first time, casting doubt on claims that the 29-year-old was driven by political ideology. In an interview, Noah Jahn described his younger sibling as “unique” but insisted he was not someone he would have ever imagined carrying out a politically motivated attack.

The remarks come after Wednesday’s sniper shooting outside a federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility, which left three detainees dead and one critically wounded before Joshua Jahn turned the rifle on himself. The shocking incident has sparked widespread speculation about Jahn’s possible motivations, with attention drawn to his family background and his mother’s political activity.

But Noah Jahn rejected the notion that his brother was deeply political. “I didn’t think he was politically interested,” he told NBCDFW. “He wasn’t interested in politics on either side as far as I knew.” Public records appear to support that view, showing Joshua was registered as an independent voter who last cast a ballot in November 2024.

According to Noah, the brothers grew up in Allen, Texas, where they were active in the Boy Scouts. Joshua developed an interest in coding but was currently unemployed and had recently planned to move into their parents’ Oklahoma home. Noah said he last saw his brother two weeks ago and did not notice anything unusual about his behavior.

On the subject of firearms, Noah acknowledged his sibling was comfortable handling guns from their parents’ collection but downplayed his skill level. “He was proficient with his parents’ gun,” he said, “but he’s not a marksman, that’s for sure. He would not be able to make any shots like that.” His remarks raise fresh questions about how Wednesday’s sniper-style attack was carried out, as investigators continue to piece together the logistics of the shooting.

As the FBI, DHS, and Dallas police pursue leads, officials have yet to publicly release a motive. For now, the comments from Joshua’s brother add a more personal layer to the ongoing investigation. While authorities sift through evidence and digital records for clues, the family’s statements underscore the complexity of understanding what led to a deadly act that has shocked the Dallas community and beyond.
