FORT WORTH, Texas — Authorities have identified the two people who tragically lost their lives in Sunday’s fatal plane crash north of Fort Worth as Michael Daly and his father, John Daly. The crash has left the community in shock, as investigators work to determine what led to the small aircraft’s fiery descent.

According to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred in the 12700 block of North Saginaw Boulevard, near Avondale, at around midday. The plane involved was a Beechcraft C90 King Air (tail number N291CC), a twin-engine turboprop designed to carry up to nine passengers. The aircraft reportedly went down in a vacant truck lot just north of a trailer park, erupting into a massive blaze that sent plumes of thick, black smoke billowing across the sky.
Emergency crews from Fort Worth, Haslet, and Saginaw fire departments rushed to the crash site within minutes. Despite their rapid response, both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported on the ground, even though the impact destroyed several parked work trucks and ignited nearby debris. Firefighters worked tirelessly to contain the flames and prevent further damage to surrounding structures.
The Beechcraft King Air was owned by Mobile EHR, Inc., a healthcare software development company founded by Michael Daly. A respected software engineer, Daly was known for his deep technical expertise and entrepreneurial drive. His professional journey began in 1992, programming in C and Assembly for the oil and gas industry before moving into desktop and mobile software. By 2010, he had launched a successful company specializing in healthcare record apps for iPads and iPhones. Daly leaves behind his wife and four children, whose loss has deeply saddened friends, colleagues, and clients across the tech community.
Witnesses described hearing a loud explosion followed by flames engulfing the crash site. One nearby café employee recalled a customer rushing inside to call 911 as others ran outside to see the wreckage. Surveillance footage from a local business reportedly captured the aircraft descending rapidly before impact. In response, Revive Wellness and Aesthetics, a nearby business, temporarily closed, posting a message expressing condolences and gratitude to first responders.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are leading a joint investigation into the cause of the crash. Officials have not yet confirmed the aircraft’s flight path, origin, or destination. As the community grieves, tributes continue pouring in for the Dalys — a father and son remembered for their dedication, innovation, and love of family.
