The Anne Arundel County Police Department reported that officers and emergency responders were called to the intersection of Telegraph Road and Route 100 around 2:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a serious two-vehicle collision.

According to preliminary findings, a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze traveling north on Telegraph Road collided head-on with a Honda Civic exiting the Route 100 ramp. The impact occurred in the middle of the intersection, resulting in significant damage to both vehicles. Firefighters and paramedics from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department arrived swiftly to provide medical aid, but despite their efforts, the driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities later identified the victim as Linda Catherine Mierzeski, 75, of Gambrills.

The driver of the Honda Civic sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local trauma center for treatment. Officials stated that the individual is currently in stable condition. Emergency crews secured the area, redirected traffic, and ensured that other motorists were kept safe while investigators examined the crash site. The intersection was temporarily closed for several hours to allow for a detailed analysis of the scene.

The department’s Crash Reconstruction Team is reviewing evidence to determine the exact cause of the collision. Investigators are analyzing vehicle positions, road markings, and witness accounts, as well as any available surveillance footage from nearby businesses. Authorities said they are also considering factors such as vehicle speed, visibility, and weather conditions at the time of the incident. No charges or citations have been issued pending the outcome of the investigation.

Police officials reminded the public of the importance of driving carefully, particularly at intersections and exit ramps, where multiple lanes of traffic converge. They emphasized that cautious driving and adherence to speed limits can prevent tragedies like this. The crash has deeply affected the local community, where Mierzeski was known as a kind and caring neighbor. Friends and family have expressed their grief, describing her as someone who will be greatly missed.

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information about the crash to contact the Anne Arundel County Police Department. Officials extended their condolences to Mierzeski’s loved ones, noting that the incident serves as a sobering reminder of how quickly lives can be lost on the road.
