Authorities in Indianapolis are investigating a homicide after a woman was discovered dead inside a hotel room on the city’s east side over the weekend. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) confirmed that the victim has been identified as 36-year-old Karissa Ramsey.
According to officials, officers were dispatched around 10:23 a.m. on Saturday to a hotel in the 2300 block of North Post Road following a report of a possible death. When police arrived, they found Ramsey unresponsive inside a hotel room. Despite efforts from emergency personnel, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on Monday and ruled Ramsey’s death a homicide, though specific details regarding the cause have not been publicly released. Authorities have not disclosed whether there were signs of forced entry or if any suspects have been identified at this stage of the investigation.
Detectives from IMPD’s Homicide Unit are continuing to gather evidence and interview potential witnesses, including hotel staff and guests who may have seen or heard anything unusual before the discovery. Investigators are also reviewing surveillance footage from the hotel and nearby businesses to piece together Ramsey’s final movements and determine who may have been involved.
Police officials emphasized that the investigation remains active and that no additional details will be released until more information becomes available. The department is urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward, stressing that even small tips can be vital in helping bring justice to the victim and her family.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the IMPD Homicide Office at (317) 327-3475, or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-8477.
