WEST LAFAYETTE — A tragic accident in Tippecanoe County claimed the life of an 82-year-old woman on Monday afternoon after she was struck by a school bus. Authorities have identified the victim as Karen Cameron, a resident of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
According to a statement from the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office, the incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on October 13 near 5900 State Road 43 North in West Lafayette. Officials said Cameron was struck by a Tippecanoe County School Corporation bus while walking in the area. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.
The coroner’s office confirmed that an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday, October 16, to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
