Jimmy Epperson Fatally Shot in Pine Bluff on Missouri Street

PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Police in Pine Bluff have launched a homicide investigation after a man was gunned down Tuesday night on Missouri Street. Authorities identified the victim as 29-year-old Jimmy Epperson, who died at the scene after being shot multiple times.

According to the Pine Bluff Police Department, officers were dispatched at 9:05 p.m. on September 23 to the 600 block of South Missouri Street following reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found Epperson lying unresponsive on the ground. He had sustained several gunshot wounds. Emergency responders attempted to save his life, but Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Teddy Spivey pronounced him dead shortly after their arrival.

Detectives and crime scene investigators remained in the area late into the night, collecting shell casings, photographing the scene, and speaking with possible witnesses. Police have not yet provided a description of a suspect or released details about a possible motive. Authorities confirmed no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains in its early stages.

Community members in the neighborhood reported hearing gunfire and expressed fear over rising violence in the city. Pine Bluff has seen several shootings in recent months, and Tuesday night’s killing has added to growing concern among residents about public safety. Many are calling for stronger efforts to curb violent crime and for more police presence in vulnerable areas.
