St. Cloud Woman Fatally Stabbed; Suspect in Custody

Authorities in St. Cloud have identified both the victim and suspect in a fatal stabbing that shook the city late Tuesday night. Police confirmed that 24-year-old Falus A. Ali of St. Cloud lost her life, while 26-year-old Saleebaan Abdirisaaq, also of St. Cloud, was taken into custody in connection with the attack. The case has been described as an isolated incident, with investigators emphasizing that it was not a random act of violence.

The events began around 11:30 p.m. on September 24, when dispatchers received a 911 call that abruptly disconnected. Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of St. Germain Street East, where they discovered Ali suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency responders rushed her to St. Cloud Hospital, but despite life-saving efforts, she was later pronounced dead. The stabbing has left the community stunned and searching for answers.

Police reported that Abdirisaaq was located at the scene shortly after their arrival. He was arrested without incident and transported to the Benton County Jail, where he is currently being held. While charges are still under review, officials said second-degree murder is a likely possibility. Prosecutors with the Benton County Attorney’s Office are expected to announce formal charges once the investigation is finalized.

Investigators confirmed that Ali and Abdirisaaq were acquainted prior to the fatal encounter, though the exact nature of their relationship has not been publicly disclosed. Detectives are now working to establish what led to the violent confrontation and whether it stemmed from an ongoing dispute. Authorities have not clarified whether the stabbing occurred inside a residence or in another location along St. Germain Street East.

The deadly incident has unsettled many in the neighborhood. Residents described the area as typically quiet and peaceful, making the presence of police cars and crime scene tape especially jarring. Several neighbors expressed their sorrow at the loss of a young woman in such a violent manner, with some saying they now feel uneasy in an area they once considered safe.

The St. Cloud Police Department has reassured residents that there is no broader threat to public safety, as the suspect remains in custody. They continue to urge anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation. For now, Abdirisaaq remains jailed pending his first court appearance, where he will hear the charges against him. The death of Falus Ali marks yet another tragic case of interpersonal violence, and investigators say they are committed to securing justice for her and her grieving family.
