Zanesville Man Killed in Farmington Township Crash on Route 66

FARMINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Authorities have identified the man who was killed in a late-night single-vehicle crash in Clarion County on Thursday. The victim was 67-year-old Demi Wisecarver of Zanesville, Ohio, who died after being ejected from the truck he was driving. Clarion County Coroner Dan Shingledecker confirmed that Wisecarver succumbed to accidental blunt force injuries.

The accident occurred around 10:54 p.m. on September 25 along State Route 66, less than a mile north of the Route 66 and Route 36 intersection in Leeper. According to Pennsylvania State Police based in Marienville, Wisecarver was operating a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia when the vehicle veered off the west side of the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation.

After leaving the roadway, the truck continued south for about 138 feet before striking a culvert. It then traveled another 56 feet, hitting a telephone pole support wire. The impact did not stop the truck, which continued for an additional 90 feet before finally coming to rest. Troopers reported that Wisecarver was not wearing a seat belt, which contributed to his being ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A front-seat passenger was also ejected from the Freightliner and suffered serious injuries. Emergency responders quickly called for air medical support, and the injured individual was flown to Penn Highlands DuBois for treatment. Authorities have not yet released the passenger’s name or current condition.

The Farmington Township Fire Department, Clarion EMS, and Minich’s Towing all assisted at the crash site. Crews worked late into the night to secure the scene, provide medical aid, and clear the roadway of debris. The investigation remains ongoing as troopers examine factors such as speed, roadway conditions, and potential driver fatigue that may have contributed to the crash.

Wisecarver’s death underscores the importance of seat belt safety, especially in heavy vehicles like tractor-trailers. According to state police, seat belts remain the most effective way to prevent serious injury or death in a crash. As investigators continue to review evidence, the community mourns the sudden loss of a man whose trip through Farmington Township ended in tragedy.
