According to Colbert County Deputy Coroner Matt Moore, the first crash occurred around 12:56 p.m. when Guarcas-Cua’s motorcycle veered off the road for reasons still under investigation. The young man was thrown from the bike and suffered fatal injuries despite wearing a helmet. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Littleville Police Department continues to examine what caused the crash, including possible factors such as road conditions, speed, or mechanical failure.
Just hours later, tragedy struck again when a 21-year-old woman from Tuscumbia died in a single-vehicle accident on Second Street outside Muscle Shoals. The crash happened shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday, according to Moore, who said the woman sustained critical injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities have not released her name, as officials are notifying her family. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division is leading the investigation into the second crash.
Deputy Coroner Moore expressed his condolences to both families, calling the back-to-back fatalities “devastating for the entire Shoals area.” He noted that both victims were young and had bright futures ahead. Investigators in both incidents are gathering evidence to determine whether speed, weather, or other environmental factors contributed to the crashes.
The tragedies have sparked grief and reflection across the Shoals region.
