17-Year-Old North Henderson High School Senior Killed in Tragic Fletcher Crash

FLETCHER, N.C. — A devastating crash in Fletcher has claimed the life of 17-year-old Brianna “Bri” Henn, a beloved high school senior from Henderson County. Authorities confirmed that the fatal accident occurred Monday morning, leaving the entire community mourning the loss of a young life filled with promise.

According to the Fletcher Police Department (FPD), officers responded to a head-on collision on Mills Gap Road just before 10:30 a.m. on October 14. The crash involved a small SUV and a dump truck traveling in opposite directions. Emergency responders from Fletcher Police, Henderson County EMS, and Fletcher Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene within minutes but were unable to save the teenage driver.

The victim, identified as Brianna Henn, was pronounced dead at the scene, police confirmed. Henn, affectionately known as “Bri,” was a senior at North Henderson High School, where she was known for her bright spirit and kind heart. News of her death has sent shockwaves through the school community, with many expressing their grief and disbelief at the sudden tragedy.

In a heartfelt statement released Tuesday, the Fletcher Police Department expressed their sorrow: “We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, students, and staff at North Henderson High School, where ‘Bri’ was a senior. This is a tragic day for our community.” Officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, though no further details about the cause have been released.

The Henderson County Public Schools (HCPS) also released a statement mourning the loss of one of their own. “Our hearts are heavy as our district mourns the loss of one of our students,” the statement read. “We are keeping the student’s family, friends, teachers, and all those affected by this heartbreaking loss in our thoughts and prayers.” Starting Wednesday, October 15, grief counselors and social workers from the district’s Crisis Team will be available at North Henderson High to offer care and emotional support to students and staff.

As investigators work to determine what led to the deadly collision, the Henderson County community is coming together to honor Brianna’s memory. Vigils and tributes are already being discussed among classmates and neighbors who describe her as a joyful, compassionate young woman whose loss will be deeply felt for years to come.
