Willow Hill Woman Dies Following Two-Vehicle Crash in Antrim Township

ANTRIM TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Authorities in Franklin County are investigating a deadly two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of 81-year-old Bonnie Cornelious of Willow Hill on Saturday evening, October 25, 2025. The tragic incident occurred around 6:42 p.m. on Molly Pitcher Highway (U.S. Route 11) near South Washington Street, according to the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) in Chambersburg.

Investigators say the crash involved a Honda Prologue and a Nissan Altima. Preliminary reports indicate that the Honda was stopped at a stop sign on South Washington Street before attempting to cross the intersection. As it entered the highway, it reportedly moved into the path of the northbound Nissan Altima, resulting in a severe collision that caused extensive damage to both vehicles. Emergency crews from local police, fire, and EMS departments responded quickly to the scene.

The driver of the Nissan, identified as Bonnie Cornelious, suffered critical injuries. First responders provided immediate aid before she was rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Cornelious later succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the Honda was evaluated at the scene and did not report any injuries. Authorities have not released that individual’s name as the investigation remains active.

The collision forced the closure of the highway for several hours as troopers and emergency crews worked to assist victims, clear debris, and document the scene. Traffic was rerouted while the PSP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Specialist (CARS) Unit gathered evidence to determine the exact sequence of events. Investigators are reviewing potential contributing factors such as speed, lighting, and visibility at the time of the crash.

Residents who live near the intersection say it has long been a dangerous area, with several previous accidents reported over the years. Many are calling for improved signage, lighting, or intersection redesigns to prevent further tragedies. Local community members have also expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of Bonnie Cornelious, describing her as a kind, active, and deeply loved member of the Willow Hill community.

State Police continue to urge drivers to remain cautious at intersections and ensure they have full clearance before entering or crossing a roadway.
