One Dead, Two Injured After Truck Falls Onto Vehicles in Seguin Crash

SEGUIN, Texas — A devastating crash early Wednesday morning at the intersection of State Highway 123 Bypass and Interstate 10 has left one man dead and two others injured, according to the Seguin Police Department. Authorities identified the victim as 63-year-old Anthony Stephenson of Seguin.

Police said the collision occurred around 6:36 a.m. when emergency crews were called to reports of a serious multi-vehicle crash involving a large truck and two sedans. According to Stephanie Larrimore, the department’s community engagement officer, preliminary findings indicate that a white Hino straight truck traveling westbound on Interstate 10 veered off the roadway and fell onto the northbound lanes of State Highway 123 Bypass below.

“The truck struck a gray sedan and then landed on a red sedan, both traveling northbound,” Larrimore explained. The impact was catastrophic, crushing the smaller vehicles beneath the heavy truck. First responders from Seguin Fire, EMS, and police units rushed to the scene, working quickly to free those trapped in the wreckage.

Authorities confirmed that Anthony Stephenson, the driver of the red sedan, died at the scene from his injuries. The drivers of both the truck and the gray sedan were transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries, which officials said were serious but not life-threatening.

The intersection remained closed for several hours as investigators examined the scene and crews cleared the wreckage. The Seguin Police Department’s Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate what caused the truck to leave the elevated section of the interstate. Officials have not yet determined whether mechanical failure, driver fatigue, or another factor played a role.

The tragic crash has shaken the Seguin community, with residents expressing condolences for the Stephenson family and gratitude toward the first responders who worked tirelessly in the chaotic aftermath. Authorities are urging all motorists to remain alert and exercise caution, especially near high-speed interchanges and bridge overpasses. The investigation into the deadly crash remains active.
