According to investigators, officers were called to the 300 block of South Bentwood Drive at approximately 3:22 a.m. on September 28 following reports of gunfire during a large gathering. When police arrived, they discovered Gonzalez suffering from a single gunshot wound in the backyard of the residence. Emergency responders quickly transported him to Midland Memorial Hospital, and he was later transferred to Lubbock for advanced treatment.
