Midland Teen Dies After Party Shooting; Police Seek Murder Suspect

MIDLAND, Texas — Authorities are searching for a suspect after 18-year-old Adolfo “Isai” Gonzalez died from injuries sustained in a late September shooting at a house party in Midland. The Midland Police Department (MPD) confirmed Gonzalez’s death on October 6, more than a week after the violent incident that has left his family and community heartbroken.

According to investigators, officers were called to the 300 block of South Bentwood Drive at approximately 3:22 a.m. on September 28 following reports of gunfire during a large gathering. When police arrived, they discovered Gonzalez suffering from a single gunshot wound in the backyard of the residence. Emergency responders quickly transported him to Midland Memorial Hospital, and he was later transferred to Lubbock for advanced treatment. Despite medical efforts, Gonzalez succumbed to his injuries eight days later.

Detectives believe the shooting stemmed from a disturbance that broke out among several partygoers, though the motive behind the violence remains unclear. Authorities said the gunman fled the scene before officers arrived and has not yet been identified. As the investigation continues, Midland Police are urging anyone with information to contact their department at 432-685-7108.

Family members described Isai Gonzalez as a kind, hardworking young man with a bright future ahead. In a message shared through a GoFundMe page, relatives said they are devastated by his loss and are now seeking both justice and community support. “Isai had a contagious smile and a heart full of love,” one family member wrote. “We just want answers and for whoever did this to be found.”

The shooting has reignited local concerns about violence at unsupervised gatherings, particularly those involving teens and young adults. Residents say the tragedy serves as a painful reminder of how quickly celebrations can turn deadly when firearms are present. Community leaders are now calling for cooperation with police to help bring the shooter to justice and prevent future tragedies.

As investigators continue to follow leads, Gonzalez’s friends and loved ones are preparing to honor his memory with vigils and fundraisers. The GoFundMe campaign launched in his name has already drawn an outpouring of support from residents across Midland, reflecting the deep sorrow and solidarity of a community mourning a young life cut short.
