Colerain Township, OH – Police are investigating two deaths that occurred within an hour of each other on Wednesday evening, which detectives believe are connected. The unusual sequence of events left a man and a woman dead, prompting an extensive investigation by the Colerain Township Police Department.
The first incident happened shortly after 6 p.m., when officers responded to the 2400 block of Owlcrest Drive for a report of a possible suicide attempt. When they arrived, they discovered 56-year-old George Coach with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Authorities said the injury appeared to be self-inflicted.
Less than an hour later, around 7 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Inn Towne Suites on Colerain Avenue for another death report. Inside one of the rooms, police found the body of 46-year-old Anthonya Blevins. Unlike Coach’s death, investigators said evidence at the scene pointed to foul play. Blevins’ case is now being treated as a homicide.
Detectives with the township’s Criminal Investigative Unit immediately began working both cases, collecting evidence and speaking with witnesses. Preliminary findings suggest that Coach and Blevins knew each other, and investigators believe the two deaths are directly linked. Police stressed that no third-party involvement is suspected and that the incidents appear isolated between the two individuals.
“This is a tragic situation, but we do not believe there is a threat to the wider community,” Colerain Township police said in a statement. Authorities are continuing to piece together the timeline of events and have not yet confirmed whether Blevins’ death happened before or after Coach’s. The exact nature of their relationship also remains unclear as detectives work to uncover a motive.
The back-to-back deaths have left the community unsettled. Residents of Colerain Township, located just outside Cincinnati, say they are shocked by the sudden loss of two lives under such unusual circumstances. Police have urged anyone with information to contact Sergeant Mike Stockmeier at 513-321-COPS, stressing that even small details could help. For now, both families are being notified and supported while investigators process forensic evidence and review surveillance footage. More updates are expected as the investigation continues.
