MILWAUKEE – Authorities have identified the teenager who was fatally stabbed during a fight near the Mitchell Park Domes earlier this week. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the victim as 18-year-old Jaquveon Wright, who died on Sunday, September 29, following a violent altercation with his cousin.
The incident occurred around 2:20 p.m. in the 800 block of South 22nd Street, just two blocks from the iconic Domes. According to the Milwaukee Police Department, Wright was involved in a dispute with his cousin when the confrontation escalated into violence. During the fight, Wright sustained fatal stab wounds. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, but despite their efforts, the teen did not survive his injuries.
Investigators say the suspect, who is related to Wright, remained at the scene following the stabbing. Detectives interviewed witnesses and collected evidence as part of the ongoing investigation. Police confirmed that criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office, although no formal charges had been filed as of Monday morning. The suspect’s identity has not yet been released.
The loss of such a young life has left family members and community members shaken. Neighbors described the altercation as sudden and deeply unsettling, particularly given the family ties involved. Domestic and family-related violence has been an ongoing concern for law enforcement officials, who continue to stress the need for early intervention and community resources to prevent disputes from escalating into deadly encounters.
The tragedy also adds to Milwaukee’s growing homicide tally. According to police data, the city has recorded 110 homicides so far in 2025. That figure represents a 9% increase compared to the same time last year, though it is 15% lower than homicide numbers reported two years ago. Authorities say while there has been progress in reducing violent crime overall, incidents like this highlight the persistent challenges the city continues to face.
As the investigation moves forward, police are urging the public to remain engaged in efforts to address violence within families and neighborhoods. Wright’s death marks another grim reminder of how quickly arguments can turn deadly. For now, the Milwaukee community waits as prosecutors review the case and determine the charges that will follow in this heartbreaking family tragedy.
