CLINTON, Miss. — A tragic act of violence has left a Clinton community in mourning after 45-year-old Jasmine Singleton was found fatally shot inside her home on Cedar Hill Drive Monday evening, October 20. Police have identified her ex-boyfriend, 42-year-old Carlton Mack, as the primary suspect in what investigators believe was a domestic-related homicide.

Authorities responded to Singleton’s residence shortly after reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they discovered the victim inside her home suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. Despite emergency efforts, Singleton was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses in the neighborhood reported seeing a gold Chevrolet Tahoe speeding away from the area immediately after the shooting.
Investigators later located the abandoned vehicle in Jackson, Mississippi, intensifying the search for Mack. Police say the suspect has a history of domestic violence arrests, and early evidence suggests the shooting stemmed from a dispute between the former couple. Officials have issued a warrant for Mack’s arrest and are urging him to surrender peacefully.
“This is a heartbreaking case of domestic violence that ended in tragedy,” a Clinton Police Department spokesperson said. “We are working diligently with local and state partners to locate the suspect and bring him into custody.”
Friends and neighbors described Singleton as a caring and hardworking woman who was loved by many in her community. “She didn’t deserve this,” said one neighbor. “She was always smiling, always kind to everyone. It’s just devastating.”
Authorities are asking anyone with information about Carlton Mack’s whereabouts to contact the Clinton Police Department or Crime Stoppers. Investigators warn that Mack should be considered armed and dangerous. As the manhunt continues, community members are calling for justice and renewed attention to the ongoing crisis of domestic violence in Mississippi.
