25-year-old Kendrick Lesesne killed in Fatal Miami-Dade Road Rage Shooting

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Authorities are searching for the gunman responsible for a fatal road rage shooting that left a 25-year-old man dead Sunday night along the Florida Turnpike near Miami Gardens, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

Investigators identified the victim as Kendrick Lesesne, who was driving a silver Hyundai at the time of the incident. The shooting occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the Turnpike near Northwest 199th Street, prompting a large police response and temporarily shutting down the roadway.

According to investigators, an off-duty Biscayne Park Police Department sergeant witnessed part of the incident and reported seeing Lesesne driving erratically before crashing into the back of a black Cadillac. Moments later, gunfire erupted. Authorities said Lesesne suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger who was with him spoke with the off-duty sergeant and provided information to responding officers.

Northbound traffic on the Turnpike was diverted for several hours while investigators examined the area for shell casings, surveillance footage, and any other clues that could help identify the shooter.

As of Monday evening, the suspect remained at large. Detectives have not released a description of the shooter or the vehicle involved but said the case appears to be an incident of road rage that escalated into violence. The Florida Highway Patrol and Miami-Dade Police Department are jointly investigating the case.
