MIDFIELD, Alabama — A 21-year-old man was killed late Wednesday night in what police are calling an accidental shooting inside a Midfield residence. Authorities identified the victim as Ja’Carium Quavonte Amison, who tragically lost his life after a firearm discharged while being handled by another person in the home.

According to the Midfield Police Department, officers responded to a report of a shooting around 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found Amison suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:03 p.m.
Investigators said the shooting appears to have been unintentional. Preliminary findings indicate that someone inside the residence was handling a gun when it discharged, striking Amison. Authorities have not yet released details about the person involved or whether any charges are being considered at this stage of the investigation.
