MIDFIELD, Alabama — A 21-year-old man was killed late Wednesday night in what police are calling an accidental shooting inside a Midfield residence. Authorities identified the victim as Ja’Carium Quavonte Amison, who tragically lost his life after a firearm discharged while being handled by another person in the home.
According to the Midfield Police Department, officers responded to a report of a shooting around 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found Amison suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:03 p.m.
Investigators said the shooting appears to have been unintentional. Preliminary findings indicate that someone inside the residence was handling a gun when it discharged, striking Amison. Authorities have not yet released details about the person involved or whether any charges are being considered at this stage of the investigation.
Police emphasized that the incident remains under active investigation, with detectives reviewing evidence and interviewing witnesses to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting. The firearm involved has been secured as part of the ongoing inquiry.
