Authorities confirmed that the student, 21-year-old Demartravion “Trey” Reed of Grenada, Mississippi, was found hanging from a tree near the pickleball courts around 7:00 a.m. on September 15, 2025.
University Police Chief Mike Peeler stated that foul play is not suspected at this time. The Bolivar County Coroner’s Office has taken custody of Reed’s body, and an autopsy will be performed to confirm the official cause of death.
