Unresponsive Teen Found Dead in Cleveland Apartment in Lakeview Terrace

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Authorities in Cleveland have launched an investigation following the death of 18-year-old Tylen Gill, who was found unresponsive inside an apartment at the Lakeview Terrace housing complex near downtown. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed his identity on Saturday, as detectives continue working to determine the circumstances surrounding his passing.

Police said officers responded to the 2700 block of Division Avenue after receiving reports of an unresponsive male inside an apartment. When they arrived, they secured the scene and began collecting evidence while emergency personnel attempted life-saving measures. Gill was pronounced deceased at the scene, officials said. His family has been notified, and investigators are awaiting the medical examiner’s full report to determine the cause and manner of death.

The Cleveland Police Department’s homicide unit has taken over the case and is conducting interviews with potential witnesses and residents in the area. Detectives are also reviewing surveillance footage from nearby buildings in an effort to establish a timeline of events and identify anyone who may have been in or near the apartment before Gill was found. As of now, no arrests have been made and no persons of interest have been publicly identified.

Residents of the Lakeview Terrace community expressed sorrow and concern after learning about the tragedy. Many described the neighborhood as generally peaceful and said the heavy police presence Friday night came as a shock. “It’s just heartbreaking,” one resident said. “He was so young. We’re praying for his family.” Local leaders and community advocates echoed those sentiments, urging anyone with information to assist police in their investigation.

The incident has reignited discussions among community organizations about youth safety and mental health in Cleveland. Several advocacy groups have called for increased support programs aimed at young adults, emphasizing that early intervention and community engagement can help prevent further loss of life. “Every time we lose a young person, it shakes the whole city,” one youth counselor said. “We need to keep showing up for our kids.”

Police are asking anyone with information about the case to contact the Cleveland Division of Police or leave an anonymous tip through Crimestoppers. Authorities say the investigation remains active and updates will be released as more details become available. Meanwhile, friends and family continue to mourn Tylen Gill, remembering him as an energetic and kindhearted young man whose life was tragically cut short.
